Our Programs
"Most programming designed for children is highly structured, leaving them with little time to think for themselves." ~Angela Hanscom
TerraTime is different.

TerraTime offers high-quality, outdoor enrichment programs for children ages 3-12 years old.
Unlike most programming, we provide time for children to explore, create, build, design, problem solve, take risks, and use their imagination – all while experiencing the wonder of outdoor play.

TerraTime programs are designed to help children develop a range of school readiness and life-long learning skills.

We maintain a ratio of one team member for every six children who are under the age of 5;
and one team member to every eight children who are over the age of 5.

Special Events
We offer two types of summer programs:
Half-day programs are designed for children ages 3-5 years old. They run for one week, Monday-Friday from 9am to 12pm.

Extended-day programs are designed for children ages 5-12 years old. They run for one week, Monday-Friday from 9am to 2pm.

Our summer programs take place on private property in an enriching play environment. Children engage their senses and experience the wonder of discovery, while developing important skills.
TerraTime uses a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) inspired curriculum and is specifically designed so children can creatively engage with the natural world around them.
Each day has a theme that is woven through each activity and play prompt. During open-ended play, children use natural and man-made materials to create, explore, and problem solve.

In line with the mission of TerraTime, our curriculum focuses on the process more than the product.
While activities are planned and guided by a team of adults, our respect for a child’s interests and ability to guide themselves through their experiences is very important. It is magical when children can learn and grow through open-ended free play and self-direction.
Usually, the materials and the prompts provided find their way into a child’s play in ways we least expect it.

"While the specific outcomes may differ to some degree, there are several elements that are key to all TerraTime outdoor experiences. These include: spontaneous play, cooperative effort, self-awareness, social skills, motor planning, problem solving, sensory integration, creativity, curiosity, self-reliance, belonging, empathy and an increased knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment."
